Skin Types – Combination Skin
Any combination of skin types may exist on the face where different areas show different physical characteristics. The most common combination consists of normal to dry skin over the cheeks and sides of the face, with a greasier T-zone down the centre panel (forehead, nose and chin).
TweetSkin Types – Greasy Skin
The surface of a greasy skin type appears shiny, thick, coarse, dull and often grimy. This is due to the skin producing more sebum than is needed to give the normal amount of lubrication and protection. Together with the extra ‘fatty content’ the skin has a dull, sallow (yellowish) appearance. Depending on how the skin is cared for, the enlarged pores may be open or blocked. Open pores allow bacteria to enter causing spots and infections. Blocked pores often result in blackheads.
TweetSkin Types – Dry Skin
Dry skin has a matt and uneven texture. In the absence of a greasy coating the natural moisture becomes lost from the upper layers. The skin lacks suppleness and often feels tight. Dry skin is usually thin, fine with no visible pores and forms lines and wrinkles prematurely, particularly around the eyes.
TweetSkin Types – Balanced/Normal Skin
This type of skin has a good balance of oil and moisture secretions which keeps it soft, supple and flexible. Pores are small, texture is fine and even and the colour is healthy. The skin will feel slightly warm to the touch which is due to its good blood supply. A balanced or normal skin rarely develops spots and blemishes. When it does, however, it usually heals well.
