Skincare Preparations – Cleansing Creams

The mineral oil in a cleansing cream dissolves grease and oil based products on the skin. A wax such a beeswax or parrafin wax is often added to give the cream a stiffer texture. The water content cools the skin and makes the cream easier to spread.

Some cleansing creams have a more fluid consistency, which is lighter than a traditional cream but ‘richer’ than a cleansing milk. These are often promoted as ‘make-up removers’ and most of them are suitable for removing both facial and eye makeup.

Cleansing creams are particularly good for removing makeup and for cleansing balanced, dry and mature skin.

Skin Types – Balanced/Normal Skin

This type of skin has a good balance of oil and moisture secretions which keeps it soft, supple and flexible. Pores are small, texture is fine and even and the colour is healthy. The skin will feel slightly warm to the touch which is due to its good blood supply. A balanced or normal skin rarely develops spots and blemishes. When it does, however, it usually heals well.
