Guest Blog – Carolynn Binnie Holistic Therapist
Getting married is one of the happiest times of your life, yet can be one of the most stressful periods too. There is a lot of planning that goes in to a wedding and it can be a long drawn out process because things have to be booked far in advance whereas some things can’t be done until a few weeks before. Whilst most of the decisions are made equally it is often the bride that organizes and worries far more than the groom. Worrying about the weather, will the dress be ready on time, (and will it fit?), will the bridesmaids behave? The bride’s appearance is often more significant than that of the Grooms’ and the pressure of finding that ‘perfect’ dress, how to wear your hair, how to apply your make-up can cause unnecessary stress.
Then there are the guests that haven’t responded and need chasing up!
It’s often not until the wedding day is actually just round the corner that the stress manifests itself, often in the form of a minor illness or a streaming cold which in turn leads to more anxiety! You now worry that you will be poorly on the day of the wedding.
Often after the wedding, stress can cause an anticlimax feeling and leave you feeling quite low and confused because you should be on top of the world!
Part of the whole process of planning an event should be to ensure that you are full of energy and vitality and this should not be left to chance. A regular massage during the final 3 months before the wedding will boost your immune system, cleanse your system of impurities, give your body time to rest and relax and encourage your brain to slow down.
Your therapist should be able to select the correct essential oils for you and blend a unique mixture that will enhance your massage and encourage your whole body to be balanced and stress free. It’s the only time when you do nothing… just turn up, and lie on the couch…. It’s your job to relax and let go… knowing that when you get up and carry on with those lists you will be firing on all cylinders.
All major players should be included so that everyone is fit and well on the day. Pick somewhere local to your home so that you can easily attend and book dates in advance so that you are not trying to squeeze it into a busy diary.

Weeks 13 & 14 – Product of the Week
Made Up For You’s product of the week for weeks 13 & 14 is a beauty product from Mary Kay called Satin Lips.
It is a 2 step procedure for people with very dry, flaky lips to refine and replenish. Step 1 uses the Mask to gently exfoliate the lips removing dead skin cells and dryness. Step 2 uses the Balm to protect and moisturise the lips leaving them soft and supple. This is a fantastic product for brides who want the perfect smile on their wedding day with their lipstick lasting longer.

Market Trends – 1960′s
The sixties are probably remembered by many as the ‘hippy’ era. People were dressed in ethnic clothes and adorned their hair with flowers and ribbons. Those who didn’t went for the ‘all American girl next door look’ with hair usually back-combed and makeup kept simple. The emphasis was being on natural, healthy looks. More women were now ’going out’ to work and wanted easily achievable hairstyles which could be fixed with hairspray and stay in place all day. The younger age group started to wear makeup in very pale pinks and peach coloured pearlised lipsticks with matching nail varnish.
Then came supermodel ‘Twiggy’. Heavily lined eye sockets together with heavily contoured cheeks and huge, wide eye became every young woman’s yearned for makeup look. Mary Quant, probably the most famous fashion designer of the day, was on of the first to bring out a new makeup collection in trendy packaging which captured the new, young fashion market. Mary Quant cosmetics are still available today and instantly recognisable by the original Quant daisy logo which is still used.

Week 10 – Product of the Week
Our week 10 product of the week is Body Shop Baked-to-Last Bronzers. Simple packaging but the bronzers are very eye catching. The swirls of colour (light and dark) are guaranteed to suit everyone and compliment their skin tone. As they are baked, they last a long time and are therefore great value for money! Use with a large bronzer brush for maximum effect.
TweetMakeup Top Tip #4
When choosing a blusher, always use one that matches your natural flushed colour. To find this out, hold up orange or pink shades up to your face and see which one makes you look healthier. Brighter shades will also ’freshen’ your skin and make your skin glow!

Week 9 – Product of the Week
Our week 9 product of the week is Mary Kay Liquid Lip Colour.
It is like a lipstick and a lipgloss rolled into one. Colour is smooth, sheer and hardwearing. The minty fresh action helps to plump up the lips for a fuller lip line. Our favourite shade is ‘Raspberry Ice’ (shown in the picture).
With very little product needed, it is very good value for money.
